WHA PROGRAMS
WHA offers a variety of on-going supportive housing programs, including:

  • A Housing Crisis Fund with local houses of worship to expand our Tenant Eviction Prevention Program
  • A series of workshops covering such topics as home buying, tenants' rights and responsibilities and banking facts.
  • A low-cost repair service for senior homeowners so that they can maintain their homes and live out their years independently.

INCOME CRITERIA
The Washingtonville Housing Alliance serves a diverse population, from families with young children to seniors who have incomes below 60% of the county median. The 2007 county median is $95,900.

RENTAL AVAILABILITY
Our apartments range in size from efficiencies to three bedrooms. All of our rents are below fair-market value, and vary according to income, number of bedroom and number of household members. Generally, rents run between $600 and $1500. We accept Section 8.

All of our apartments are currently occupied, and there is a waiting list. When an apartment becomes available we mail an application to those on our list and select three or four applicants to be interviewed by our Management Committee. The committee then chooses one tenant. We require a security deposit of one month's rent.
