Our Story

The Washingtonville Housing Alliance is a locally sponsored nonprofit that seeks to preserve and enhance the quality of life in the Village of Mamaroneck and the surrounding area. WHA is a certified Neighborhood Preservation Corporation (NPC) organized to advance community development. We build communities and change lives in Mamaroneck.

The Alliance constructs new housing and improves existing housing for low- and moderate-income residents and undertakes other supportive activities designed to sustain communities that are culturally diverse, multi-generational, and of mixed income.

Since its founding in 1980, WHA has

  • Built or rehabilitated 115 new apartments, including 75 units of senior housing
  • Developed 14 homes for first-time buyers
  • Offered a variety of services to the village of Mamaroneck
  • Leveraged $14.1 million in construction from Westchester County for multi-family building rehab and urgent home improvement
  • Generated over $200,000 annually in taxes for the municipality through newly constructed and rehabilitated units
  • In 2014, we formed an alliance with Westhab, Inc, a regional community development leader, in order to further  our mission and deepen our impact.
